1. Daily maintenance: Reduce the frequency of deep cleaning
(1) Regular dust removal
Tools: soft brush, vacuum cleaner (with soft brush head), electrostatic duster.
Method: Use the lowest setting of the vacuum cleaner (10 cm away from the curtain) to suck up the floating dust every week, or gently sweep the surface to avoid friction and snagging.
Note: If the curtain has embroidery/beading, it is necessary to pat the dust in the opposite direction to prevent the decoration from falling off.
(2) Local pretreatment of stains
Liquid stains (coffee, juice): Immediately pat with a cotton swab dipped in cold water to avoid spreading.
Oil stains: Apply a small amount of baking soda and let it stand for 10 minutes, then wipe with a soft cloth.
Mold stains: Mix white vinegar and water (1:3) and spray, then dry in the sun to sterilize.
2. Hand washing: Suitable for fine embroidery or easily deformed materials
Neutral detergent (avoid containing enzymes/fluorescent agents), cold water, bathtub/large basin, laundry bag (optional).
Soaking: After cold water + 1 bottle cap of detergent is dissolved, put the curtain in and soak for ≤10 minutes (too long will cause yellowing).
Washing: Gently press the stain, do not twist, rub or brush, and turn the embroidery over to avoid hooking.
Rinse: Change the water 3 times until there is no foam, and add a small amount of white vinegar (200ml) to prevent static electricity.
3. Machine washing method: suitable for wear-resistant pure cotton/polyester fiber tulle curtains
Remove the hook/metal ring, turn it over and put it in the laundry bag (reduce friction).
Parameter setting
Mode: Select "gentle/hand wash mode", speed ≤600 rpm.
Water temperature: ≤30℃, high temperature can easily cause shrinkage or offset printing to fall off.
Detergent: low-foam laundry detergent (half the normal amount), avoid softener (residue accelerates yellowing).
4. Airing and drying: the key to preventing deformation and yellowing
(1) Lay-flat drying method
Lay the wet curtain flat on a clean bath towel to absorb moisture, straighten the folds and then dry in the shade.
Contraindications: Avoid exposure to the sun (ultraviolet rays cause yellowing) and dryers (high temperature damages fibers).
(2) Hang-to-dry method
Hang the curtain rod directly while it is still wet, fix the bottom with a clip to maintain the drape, and air dry naturally.
5. Treatment of special materials and designs
(1) Embroidery/beaded models
Wrap the decorative parts with a net bag before washing, and avoid friction when washing by hand. After drying, use a steam iron (low temperature) to iron 10 cm away from the fabric to avoid direct contact with the decorations.
(2) Gradient dyeing/printed models
Wash separately for the first time and test whether the color fades (rub the hidden area with a white cloth). Add a fixing agent (such as salt) and soak for 5 minutes to reduce the risk of fading.
6. Anti-yellowing maintenance tips
(1) Water quality management
In hard water areas, it is recommended to use pure water for washing, as mineral deposits can easily cause yellowing.
(2) Storage method
When not in use for a long time, wash and roll up (not fold), put in a breathable cotton bag, and avoid a humid environment.
(3) Seasonal care
Soak once a quarter in oxygen bleach (not chlorine bleach) (ratio 1:50) to restore bright whiteness.
